Terms and Conditions

1. Booking & Reservation

A booking is confirmed only after the required deposit has been received and written confirmation has been issued by the company. The remaining balance must be paid no later than the agreed due date prior to departure unless otherwise agreed in writing. Failure to complete payment by the due date may result in cancellation of the reservation.

2. Prices

All prices are quoted in the stated currency and include only the services specifically listed in the itinerary. Prices may change without prior notice before a booking is confirmed due to fluctuations in fuel costs, government fees, exchange rates and supplier charges. Once the booking is made, the price is set.

The price of the trip is based on accommodation for two people sharing a double room/cabin/tent. In some cases, travellers may be placed in a single room/cabin/tent due to gender distribution, room availability, the number of travellers on the trip, etc. If this placement is made on the initiative of Mutan Unlimited, no additional fee will be charged to the traveller. If the traveller requests a single room/cabin or any other upgrade at the time of booking, the traveller will pay a surcharge.

3. Cancellation by the Guest

Cancellation charges apply as follows:

  • More than 60 days before departure: full refund less administrative fees.
  • 60–31 days before departure: 50% of the total trip price.
  • 30–15 days before departure: 75% of the total trip price.
  • 14 days or fewer before departure, or no-show: 100% of the total trip price.

Refunds exclude any bank charges or transaction fees.

4. Cancellation by the Company

The company reserves the right to cancel or modify any trip due to:

  • Unsafe weather or sea conditions / safety concerns
  • Government restrictions
  • Force majeure
  • Events beyond the company’s reasonable control

Guests will be offered either:

  • An alternative departure date,
  • An alternative itinerary, or
  • A refund of payments received.

The company is not responsible for additional expenses such as flights, hotels, visas or travel insurance.

5. Weather & Itinerary Changes

Sea kayaking is an adventure activity. Daily routes, camping locations and schedules may change at any time due to:

  • weather,
  • tides,
  • currents,
  • sea conditions,
  • wildlife,
  • safety considerations,
  • local authority instructions.

Guide decisions are final and made in the interest of guest safety.

6. Medical Emergencies

Guests participate entirely at their own risk. The company will make every reasonable effort to provide assistance during emergencies but cannot guarantee immediate medical evacuation due to the remote nature of many destinations. Mutan Unlimited is responsible for arranging evacuation to the nearest public health facility. Medical treatment, hospital costs and transportation expenses after that are the responsibility of the guest.

7. Travel Insurance

Personal travel insurance is not included in the trip cost. It is a condition of booking and participating in a trip with Mutan Unlimited that all travellers hold their own insurance. Mutan Unlimited recommends that travellers take out travel insurance at the time of booking that includes cancellation cover in the event of unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances (force majeure).

To ensure safety during the trip, all travellers need full accident insurance that covers them if they become ill or have an accident. It is important to make sure the insurance covers the whole trip and all the activities you will be doing. Mutan Unlimited will not pay for lost, damaged or delayed belongings, or for medical bills, medication or other costs, unless Mutan Unlimited is clearly at fault.

8. Personal Equipment

Guests are responsible for their own personal belongings. Although reasonable care is taken, the company accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal equipment including cameras, phones, luggage, passports or valuables.

9. Company Equipment

All kayaking equipment supplied by the company remains company property. Guests agree to use all equipment responsibly and report any damage immediately. Damage caused by negligence may be charged to the guest.

10. Safety

Guests must follow all safety instructions given by guides. The company reserves the right to remove any participant whose behaviour:

  • Endangers themselves,
  • Endangers other guests,
  • Threatens staff,
  • Damages equipment,
  • Violates local laws.

No refund will be provided in these circumstances.

11. Photography

The company may take photographs and videos during the trip for promotional purposes and documentation, which will be shared with guests via Google Drive at the end of the trip. Guests who do not wish to appear in promotional material should notify the company in writing before departure.

12. Force Majeure

The company shall not be liable for delays, modifications, cancellations or losses caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, civil unrest, strikes, transportation disruptions or extreme weather.

13. Payment

Payment is normally made in two steps: first the reservation fee, then the full payment. The reservation fee is normally due within 14 days of booking, when the invoice is sent out, unless otherwise stated. The reservation fee is 30% of the total price of the trip. If the reservation fee is not received by Mutan Unlimited by the due date, Mutan Unlimited cannot guarantee a place on the trip.

In most cases, the remaining payment for the trip is made in one instalment (on request, in several instalments). Unless otherwise stated in writing, the entire trip must be paid for no later than 30 days before the start of the trip in Lombok. If the reservation is made later than 30 days before the start of the trip in Lombok, the entire price of the trip, including the reservation fee, must be paid within 14 days, but no later than 7 days before the start of the trip.

14. Acceptance

Sea kayaking involves inherent risks including but not limited to:

  • Capsizing,
  • Strong currents,
  • Changing weather,
  • Marine wildlife,
  • Injuries,
  • Illness,
  • Remote locations.

By joining the trip, guests acknowledge these risks and agree that participation is voluntary.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the company shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from participation in the trip. By confirming a booking and making payment, the guest acknowledges that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
